Dear Reader InterMain Consulting Inc. has been providing consulting and maintenance services since its inception in 1992, But we have been involved with maintenance improvement for much longer. Our focus on maintenance began in 1981, partnering with an international CMMS vendor to introduce one of the first CMMS to Canada with offices in Vancouver and Toronto. After merging with this International company as was Vice President of product support and development, i subsequently created their very successful professional services group which I ran for several years before going out on my own once again. Over the years a great deal of practical experience has been gained in applying the latest maintenance technologies and methods to over 100 locations that range from very small sites with just a few personnel to some of the largest in the world. Along the way we have learned that while every situation is unique in many ways, there have always been many common issues, opportunities, and needs. What we have recognized is there are ways to provide the same achievements and benefits that the largest organizations have gained but without the substantial lead times and cost that they have incurred. We stay abreast with emerging technologies and advanced methods. But time and again our experience continues to confirm that many of the most attainable gains are based on fundamentals; areas such as basic leadership, management and control, clear definition of roles and responsibilities, and having an educated, informed, and involved workforce.
